Pooja also aspires to have same rights as that of her husband to work and earn a living. It was under the initiative of ZingnZest that she got this opportunity. Pooja comes from a low income family while her husband works in a small private company, which does not give them enough to raise their 2 children. But ever since she has joined ZingnZest, Pooja is happy to work and contribute to the family income.

Earlier, she used to stitch clothes to earn a living but that did not gave her the same happiness and satisfaction which she feels working for ZingnZest. The safer environment, and work which does not strain her eyes is too good for her. She feels independent and empowered now. Her family was very supportive and never stopped her from doing the work. It also feels delightful to see how her children support her. 

She gained knowledge, experience, and developed her skill after joining this enterprise. She wishes that the products made by them would reach more customers and liked by them so that she gets more regular employment. She feels that she utilizes her time more efficiently than ever.

Asha is a 31 year old lady from Chandu village, Gurugram, Haryana. Her husband is a laborer. Being an early mother to 4 children has never stopped her from following her passion. Since her childhood, she had a dream to be self sustainable and independent which was made possible due to ZingnZest. She believes that the assistance, support and training provided by ACCESS Development Services has not only helped her to become independent but has also provided her with lessons which are crucial for living a good life, through various kind of trainings such as financial training, personal hygiene and safety training.

For becoming a part of ZingnZest she had to struggle hard as it is difficult to break age old shackles that don’t allow women to move forward. There were lot of people who questioned her and made unnecessary, negative comments. But with support of her husband and in- laws, it became possible for her to join this organization. She feels blessed to have a family like this that supported her to follow her dreams. She also mentions that her children also support her and look at her as an inspiration. Her determination towards her work is unquestionable. Her youngest son is 2 years old but this has never stopped her from coming to work.

In this time when the rates are inflated, it is difficult to manage the expense of 6 family workers, but now as Asha also generates income along with her husband it becomes easy for them to manage household expenses. Being a part of this initiative has boosted her confidence, and has given a feel- good factor. She feels empowered and wishes that more women in her neighborhood join this initiative. She also wants to set a good example for her children. It gives her immense happiness to know that her husband is proud of her. She is hard working and determined toward her work and also looks forward for great opportunities ahead.

The 35-year-old Nirmala broke down these societal barriers and stepped out of her house to join ZingnZest and contribute to the family income. She shares that ZingnZest has refined her skills and has enhanced her performance. Speaking with confidence, Nirmala has now become greatly aware and knowledgeable.

This change is nothing but a result of pure and good intentions which has built a new enthusiasm among women.

Achievement Speaks For Struggle and Hardwork

"I was afraid from inside but I knew my family was always there."  
                                        
Women in India are expected to be confined to domestic frontiers since a very long time, but they are scuffling hard to get away from these retrograding restrictions.  From trying to break free from the shackles of social discrimination, cultural bias, tags of being an inferior sex to fulfilling their responsibility of maintaining a home and a family, Indian women are now finally acknowledged, appreciated and admired for their new roles of ‘entrepreneurs’.

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. This is the reason for success of Pooja Sharma. She is the head at ZingnZest common facility center(CFC) at Chandu village, Haryana. From an extremely weak financial background, Pooja became a part of self-help group(SHG) in 2007. In 2013, she became a part of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shikhopur and got connected with HSRLM, PUSA and different Government agencies. She was also trained in food processing and packaging by KVK. Seeing this, in 2017, the project team of New Leaf thought of strengthening her own initiatives and leveraging the same for the benefit of other women in the village and started ZingnZest initiative there. She brought change in the lives of many people.

She had to struggle a lot before becoming a part of this organization. The patriarchal norms and structures deeply rooted in the society restrict women from going and working beyond their household limits which restricts them from contributing to the family income and same happened with Pooja. She faced various obstacles, but it was her determination and support of her husband and children that motivated her to not stop and continue with her dream. She had always wanted to earn a living and become independent and support her family. So it was ACCESS Development Services that helped her to achieve it. She has influenced lives of many by creating various independent groups to help the women to become self-sustained.

 For her great resoluteness towards her work and improving life of others, she has achieved various awards- Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Puruskar, National Krishi Puruskar, facilitated by Chief Minister of Haryana in occasion of Republic Day, also by Governor of Haryana, and others. It is her hard work that has made her reach to this point.

Inspirational Story

A Step Outside Home

The role of women in sustaining the family is no less than that of males. And the story of 30-year-old Kavita is no different. Married at an early age, Kavita along with her husband bears the burden of four children. With husband as the sole bread winner for the house and due to insufficient family income, Kavita was forced to work under the scorching sun at the field. 

But the hope for better future never dies. In 2017, ZingnZest came as an opportunity to Kavita and all other women of Chandu Village to enhance their income and sustain their livelihood. ZingnZest has given her a room to maneuver and has provided her with a safe and secure environment to work in.

Kavita, now takes pride in her work. She seems to be more happy and self-motivated.
